Kids
Events are great places for street photography. There are lots of people doing interesting things. And there are lots of cameras which helps photographers blend in... Among the various types of people that might be interesting to photograph, it's the kids that steel the show... Below are kid shots from the 2014 Philadelphia Chinese New Year Parade and The International Auto Show.

The Chinese New Year Parade included four dragons, drummers, fireworks and lots of people. The parade meandered around several blocks, stopping frequently for the dragons to dance and to light firecrackers. These were not just little noise makers. These were long red strips filled with
heavy artillery. Many were hung from second story windows. Once the end was lit, the firecrackers would go off continuously until the strip was consumed, leaving red debris on the ground. When several strips were going off at the same time, the sound was deafening. The intense odor of the smoke took me back to the days of cap guns.

The image above was one of the rare moments when I got close enough to see the parade. Most of the time I was trapped in a sea of people. That's where the kids became the show... Most of the small kids were carried on adult shoulders so they could see, and mostly so they wouldn't get trampled!

Video:  Director in the making.

Someday:  Dreams of trading in his hat for a dragon mask.

Too Loud:
  Never heard anything like it.

Disbelief:
  Is this really happening?

I Love Dad:
There were more important things than the parade.

Safe:
  Protected in his grandfather's arms.

I've been going to auto shows for more than 50 years. It was always about the cars... until now. This year it was about the people. Again, the kids were the show. Unlike the Mummers and Chinese New Year Parades where the kids were often quite unimpressed, the magic of cars excites them all.

Easy Rider:  Taking a test drive on a Beemer.

Lamborghini Model Tryout: Hopeful candidate.

Car Guy: This is serious business.

Height Challenged:
No problem!

Little Fiat: Perfect for second grade.

Let's Get This One: It's just what I always wanted.

Raspberry: $80,000 and it doesn't even have paddle shifters!

Jaguar: This provocative image is nothing more than a little guy peering out the window of a Jaguar. The decal must have been put on the wrong side of the window.
