Savannah Stories
Picture
I went to Savannah to check it out and to take pictures. My goal was not to document Savannah- that's been done a million times. I wanted to get images that tell a story.

This is the Talmadge Memorial Bridge. I had hoped to walk it, but that's not possible. But it is beautiful.

Picture
River Street is a collection of shops, bars and restaurants. This is the Chart House Restaurant. Look closely- each little frame tells its own story.

Picture
This is David. I met him in Forsyth Park. He told me that he rode his bike from Massachusetts and that he is staying at a rehab facility.

Not only is he a great guitar player and singer, but he is an artist- a great artist. He showed me some prints (I bought two) and sketches.

He's a nice guy who could use a break.

Picture
This guitar player was on River Street. You can see the Talmadge bridge in the background.

What struck me about his singing is that he sounds very much like Satchmo.

Picture
This was taken at City Market- several blocks of restaurants and shops. Bands play music most of the time.

This fellow is a street artist. I saw him trying to convince people to have him do sketches. Something in the music got him going- he was off his chair and into the groove.

Picture
Passing time at Wilbert's.

Picture
This is Floyd. He retired to Savannah from Monterey California where he worked for the state.

He said that Ronald Reagan was his boss. Was his nice? "Nice enough, but he was firm!!"

Floyd was a little disappointed with the size of the day's catch.

Picture
Ellis Square has this neat water fountain. There are 20-30 jets on the ground which go on and off in a range of patterns. Kids have a great time trying to figure out when they are going to fire.

This water diviner casts his magic spell.

Picture
His power is amazing.

Picture
He celebrates with a water dance.

Picture
A final prayer to keep the water flowing.

Picture
Praising the God of Water!!

Picture
OK- time for lunch.

Picture
And then there was this little guy. He would find a jet that wasn't on, squat down and wait.

I call this image: "The End"
